Privacy
Longwave has no account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. What it learns about your taste stays on your Mac.
What leaves your Mac
- Station searches go to the free radio-browser.info directory. When you start a station from the directory, Longwave tells radio-browser that the station was played, with no account, name or device ID. This keeps the directory's popularity lists honest.
- Place names. To show a station's local time, Longwave may ask Apple's map service where a city is.
- The radio itself comes straight from each station's own server, like any internet radio. Those stations see a normal listener connection.
Each of these services sees your IP address, as any website does. Nothing else leaves your Mac.
This website
The home page guesses your country from your browser's time zone (that stays in your browser) and asks radio-browser.info for that country's most-played stations and picks one near you, so the dial shows somewhere close. If you have already allowed this site to know your location, it uses that; it never asks. No cookies, no analytics.
What stays on your Mac
Your favourites, history, songs heard and taste profile are stored only on your Mac, in Longwave's own folder. Deleting the app leaves them there; to remove them too, delete Longwave's folder in ~/Library/Containers (Finder lists it as Longwave). You can reset your taste from History at any time.
Links you click
When you look up a song, Longwave opens a search on the service you picked in Settings, in your browser. That service's own privacy policy applies there.
Bluetooth
Longwave lists your paired Bluetooth speakers and headphones so you can play on them. It does not scan for or remember other devices.
